The Sound of Survival: Attack the Sound's Wake Up Call Shines a Light on Dark Times

A cry? A confession? A call for empathy? Wake Up Call is all of the above and then some. Courtesy of Chicago-based outfit Attack the Sound, the act's latest single is a gripping and soulful one. A delectable fusion of upbeat R&B with dollops of pop, hip-hop, and even a little jazz, it's a tune that lures the listener in with a dreamy swagger - until its message hits you.

As the band's most vulnerable release to date, Wake Up Call tells a hauntingly dark tale of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. It shines a light on despair and the struggles many face behind closed doors.

"This one came from the darkest corner of my mind," says Attack the Sound's frontman and former Army veteran Dave Sounds. "But it's also about climbing out of that space. Music saved me - and I'm hoping this track helps someone else hang on".

Sure, Attack the Sound aren't the first to heavily juxtapose infectious melodies with such weighty topics, but they've done it here in such a masterful and respectful way. Wake Up Call is an absolute gem of a song in every way, and I can't wait to hear what this gifted outfit comes up with next!
