Jenny Räisänen’s The Sun Between The Shadows Is a Darkly Mesmerizing Masterpiece

Finnish singer/songwriter Jenny Räisänen has been on my radar for a while now. Based in Limerick, Ireland, her recent single In A Vacuuum was a tune I previously described as a "haunting, almost meditative experience".

It was released towards the end of last year, as Jenny was gearing up to unleash her new album The Sun Between The Shadows, a record I am excited to now declare is out in its entirety!

A ten-track offering of dark, introspective, and cinematic songs, The Sun Between The Shadows is a thirty-minute sonic escapade that demands your attention. I was blown away by Räisänen's vocals when I first came across In A Vacuum, but now, hearing them across an entire album, her artistry feels more undeniable than ever.

Intended to highlight individual and societal challenges, yet also remind us that there's light and hope along the way, Jenny's latest record is her way of standing up for the voices and fighting against injustice. It's a bold, intense, and powerful offering, and one I find myself putting straight back on when it's finished.
