Electric High's Siren's Lullaby is a Pulse-Pounding Anthem of Lost Dreams
Norwegian rockers Electric High have been on my radar for a while now. Tunes like Hear Me Out and Weeping Gods were thumping bangers that introduced me to their special blend of alternative rock, and the outfit now returns with more hard-hitting goodness in the form of Siren's Lullaby. A track that features on the band's highly acclaimed debut album Colorful White Lies, Siren's Lullaby expertly balances grit and grandeur, making for an electrifying listening experience.
Perfectly layered and built-up, Siren's Lullaby gives me quite a strong Queens of the Stone Age vibe. It's edgy, intense, and even a little raw, before the chorus opens up like a breath of fresh air, wonderfully contrasting the song's tightly wound tension with an exhilarating release.
"The song builds a tense, claustrophobic vibe, which could make you envision a jam with Jack White and John Lennon, Cold Turkey style," says Electric High's lead vocalist Per Vidal Staff.
Telling the tale of someone whose big dreams and well-founded plans evaporate in a heartbeat, Siren's Lullaby is a superb example of the band's ability to fuse passionate storytelling with unrelenting sonic force. It's a genius piece of music, and now I'm off to jam Colorful White Lies in full!
