Drenched in Melancholy, Glass Cannon Showcases Siren Section’s Expansive Sound
Glass Cannon is the gripping, expansive, and melancholic new single from Siren Section, a Los Angeles-based duo who've been gearing up to release something like this for a while now.
Taking their first steps into a professional recording studio, John and James have now entered a new chapter in their sonic evolution, and it's a direction that suits them down to the ground. Sounding as polished, atmospheric, and emotionally charged as ever, Glass Cannon is a haunting and cinematic tune that hits all the right notes.
A perfect blend of shoegazy and dreamy industrial dark pop, Siren Section's latest release (and general sound) finds inspiration in acts like My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Unwound, and Radiohead. It's a wide-ranging set of influences, and it's what gives the pair the ability to blur genres while keeping their identity unmistakably their own.
"This song is about coping with a disintegrating relationship and world view in a destructive and escapist way," says James. "It's something really personal to me".
Look, all I can say is that I hope these two spend more time in the studio. Glass Cannon is an utterly brilliant piece of music, and I'd love to hear from John and James again.
