Chris Thomas & The Merrymakers Turn Teenage Chaos into Garage Gold on The Sun & Moon

Dirty and grungy and jam-packed with tasty riffs, The Sun & Moon is the brand new single from Florida-based one-man powerhouse Chris Thomas. Performing under Chris Thomas & The Merrymakers, this actually isn't my first encounter with Chris' raw and homemade sound, and I've got to say, it's still hitting all the same glorious and gritty notes.

A tune that Chris has been working on for over thirteen years, The Sun & Moon is something of a time capsule that captures the wear and tear of a musician in its purest form.

"I actually wrote the riff right before I had my first blackout when I was fourteen," recalls the artist. "The next morning, I knew I needed to do something, so I wrote this song conveying the feeling of exploration and discovery of self".

Bright and distorted like early Jack White, and with a deep, brooding Nirvana undercurrent on the finish, The Sun & Moon is a powerful piece of art. It's also the perfect showcase of Chris Thomas' DIY approach to making music, buzzing with a basement-born energy and the kind of grit you just can’t fake.
