Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends Deliver an Irresistible Earworm with Sing-Along Songs
In 2023, I labelled Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends as one of my favourite finds of the year. As the solo project of Arne Floryd, a former member of the Swedish folk-rock act Redmoon, it was the tune Some Angels Never Learn to Fly that began my love affair. And, sure, the track in question was actually released in 2021, but from that moment on, I kept a close eye (and ear) on everything Arne got up to.
Sure enough, the goods continued to flow, especially with the release of his No Sweets for E. album. Today, however, I'd like to introduce you to Floryd's brand new offering, Sing-Along Songs, unleashed just a few days ago.
Sonically upbeat and almost playful, the tune leans into elements of power pop and light punk with a hint of folk-rock. It's ridiculously infectious and carries a carefree energy that I'm finding pretty irresistible.
Featuring what Arne has described as "ironic lyrics and somber humour for the dark ages," deciphering the song's deeper meaning is a task best left to the listener. What I will share with you, though, is my belief that Arne Floryd is a masterful musician who deserves more attention.
