The Weight Carries a Heavy Heart, but Roam Like Ghosts Lift It Beautifully
Some songs come into one's life and they feel as if they've been there all along. It's like you heard it in a previous lifetime, and now it’s resurfaced from the depths of your memory.
Such is the case with The Weight, a tune released by North Carolina-based outfit Roam Like Ghosts towards the end of last year. Laced with nostalgia and wrapped in warm and inviting melodies, the poignant and emotional track carries a timeless weight (excuse the pun) that's really taken ahold of me.
Serving as the third song on Roam Like Ghosts' most recent album Church, The Weight dives into the universal theme of grappling with mortality and reflecting on life's joys, regrets, and challenges. "It's about those things that end up grinding and weighing you down," says the band. "Then, all you can hope for is that those you loved know that through it all you loved them".
Made up of Mathew Daugherty, Bucky Fairfax, and Bobby DeRosa, Roam Like Ghosts are an outfit beginning to cause quite a stir. And, if you're lucky enough to live on that side of the world, they've got a rather packed itinerary of live performances coming up!
