Not Average Sets the Stage for Dallas Rapper Junya Boy's Debut Album
Busy putting the final touches on his debut album, Dallas-based rapper Junya Boy (born Simon Ellis) has dropped a taste of what to expect in the form of Not Average, a hard-hitting piece of hip-hop brilliance.
Teaming up with Sterling World Records and the talented producer Yung Bala, Not Average is a showcase of Junya Boy's versatility and savvy, lyrical prowess. A brief yet explosive track, it's a sharp and no-nonsense statement from an artist I believe is about to blow up big time.
Capturing the attention of industry moguls like Bryson Tiller, Kevin Gates, Nina Black, and DJ Mustard, Junya Boy burst onto the scene a little over a year ago with tunes like No Love and Out The Hood. Both songs had something of a commercial and radio-friendly vibe, but Not Average feels like a raw and unfiltered glimpse into his true artistic identity.
While no official release date has been given for Junya Boy's upcoming record, if this track is any indication, he’s got something major up his sleeve. Keep an eye (and ear) out for it!
