Heartache in the 12th House Delivers Mystery, Mood, and Midnight Psychic’s Vision

Connecticut-based two-piece Midnight Psychic describes their music as "goth rock inspired by abandoned shopping malls, clown paintings, and window blinds". Not sure what to make of that? We'll try and explain.

Heartache in the 12th House is the pair's debut album, and it's an eleven-track offering of dark, post-punk, and shoegazy goodness. Diving into the tenebrous realms of loss, death, longing, and alienation, it's a record that puts a contemporary spin on an array of genres, all culminating in a haunting and thought-provoking piece of work.

From classic drum machines and '80s electronics to powerful doom loops and acid-soaked guitars, Heartache in the 12th House is a sonic experience drenched in mood, mystery, and a touch of menace. Tunes like You Should Move On and String of Fate stick in your mind like the final scene of a film that you can't forget. And, truthfully, that's just touching the surface of the album’s hypnotic and unsettling allure.

Made up of Jayson Munro and George Moore, Midnight Psychic have delivered an astoundingly good debut record. It's clearly been a labour of love for the two, and I can't wait to hear what they come up with next!
