Little Juke's Debut Album Departures From The State Of Mind Brims with Promise and Power
Departures From The State Of Mind is the scintillating debut album from Wolverhampton-based newcomers Little Juke, and it's an absolute blinder from start to finish. A compelling ten-track offering that showcases the band's diverse soundscape, it's a record that's been highly anticipated by many. You see, in their short sonic career, Little Juke have caused quite a stir in their hometown, selling out headline shows and gearing up to perform at the legendary KK Steel Mill.
Down The Rabbit Hole was the outfit's debut single, and also kicks off Departures From The State Of Mind. A haunting blend of layered melodies, the tune evokes the mood of Radiohead, while also echoing the softer and more delicate tones of Arcade Fire. It's the perfect start!
Round Of Applause follows State of Mind and it's a crunchy rock 'n' roll anthem filled with grit and precision, before the almost grungey and dense sounds of Time On My Mind make their appearance.
Other personal favourites include the wonderfully titled, laidback number When The Sea Came To Tea and the album's truly epic closer Just When You Thought It Was Safe. Truthfully, however, the entire record deserves your full attention. It's special stuff!
