Josh Jensen Paints a Vivid Portrait of Life on His New Album This Is Where We Landed
Just over a year ago, I stumbled upon a laidback and catchy little pop song called Across the Sky. Courtesy of Seattle-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Josh Jensen, it was a tune that began my appreciation for Josh's folky, Americana artistry, and I've been a firm fan ever since.
This Is Where We Landed is Jensen's brand new and third solo album, and it's one I've been patiently waiting for. Released just a few days ago, the record was penned the year after Josh's wife was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, and the deeply personal project explores themes of love, family, wandering, and death.
Birdhouse gets the ball rolling in upbeat fashion; a track inspired by a poem the artist wrote during a sunrise in 2005. It's the perfect start to proceedings, before the contemplative and almost jazzy The Circus is in Town makes its appearance.
Dusty Roads and Broken Dreams is a wonderful slice of country folk goodness, while Colorado delivers a poignant and melancholic vibe that reaches deep into your very soul.
Other standout songs on the record are the aforementioned Across the Sky and Hello, Hysteria featuring Alex Capron. Truthfully, however, the entire album deserves your full attention.
