Dreamy, Immersive, and Utterly Addictive - Marble Raft Shine on Here in Your Backyard

Last year, I was introduced to Olle Söderström and Gabrielle Werme Baker, a Swedish indie-pop duo who make up Marble Raft. The tune that began my love affair with the pair was called To Have and to Hold and to Break, and I proudly labelled it as a "chewy and delectable slice of synthy goodness". Since then, Marble Raft have continued to impress, and released their splendid sophomore album just last month. Track two on said album is Here in Your Backyard, and it's a song I'd like to introduce you to today.

Brimming with string synthesizers, a twelve-stringed guitar, and an autoharp, Here in Your Backyard is everything I love about Marble Raft. Immersive, lush, and full of colour, their sound just washes over you like a warm breeze. And, as for the pair's intoxicating vocal interplay, it adds a dreamy and weightless quality to proceedings that's just inescapable.

“We wanted to create a playful and euphoric indie pop anthem about a motley crew gathering in a neighbourhood of an eerie metropolis," says the duo. "It portrays a messy crowd of strangers getting together in some sort of backyard party".

Getting better and better with each new release, Marble Raft are here to stay, and I couldn't be happier!
