Best Life Is Janet Devlin at Her Most Hopeful, and It’s Absolutely Infectious
Janet Devlin is a name that perhaps needs no introduction. Hailing from Northern Ireland, the gifted singer/songwriter boasts millions of Spotify streams, and last year's album Emotional Rodeo hit #1 on iTunes' Country Charts.
Track four on said album is a charming and highly infectious little ditty called Best Life, and it's a tune I haven't quite been able to get out of my head since I first heard it. Heartfelt, authentic, and incredibly anthemic, it radiates the kind of joy that makes you want to throw your arms in the air and sing along, no matter where you are.
Opening up about the track's meaning, Janet says she's not usually one for sentimentalities, especially in her writing. "On that day though, I felt overwhelmed by gratitude - for not giving up, and for choosing to stay. Here I am, truly grateful for the gift of living".
As one of the most powerful songs from Devlin's critically acclaimed record, Best Life, in many ways, embodies the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a declaration of survival and hope, and one I believe the world will find solace in, time and time again.
