Beside Me: Daniel de Boer’s Innovative Return Explores the Power of Change

Amsterdam-based singer/songwriter and bassist Daniel de Boer has finally made his long-awaited return with Beside Me, a delicate, innovative, and uplifting little gem guaranteed to worm its way into your heart.

Working alongside Berlin-based producer Shakthi Prasad, Daniel was determined to concoct an organic but still anthemic and pop-oriented sound. To do this, he enlisted the help of some seriously gifted musicians from all over the world, who in turn, managed to bring de Boer's unique sonic vision to life.

Beside Me is the result of a truly global collaboration, and it's one of the most original and refreshing pieces of music I've heard in some time. There's an understated simplicity somehow infused within an intricately layered tune, and it's a track that feels both intimate and expansive simultaneously.

A special shoutout must go to Oene van Geel on viola and trombone, whose skilful performance adds a rich and haunting aura to proceedings that elevate the entire song to new heights.

Lyrically, Beside Me delves into returning to one's original path after having strayed from it. "It takes courage to accept that we've been walking in the wrong direction," says Daniel. "But once the fact is faced and the path adjusted, good things can start to happen in your life again".
