Towards the end of last year, I stumbled upon a timeless hip-hop gem called Birds & Bullets. Courtesy of Minnesota-based rapper Hollow Profit and the legendary Ben Beal, the combination of lo-fi aesthetic and complex lyricism provided a brief yet unforgettable sonic journey. I've been keeping a close eye (and ear) on the rather prolific rapper ever since, and just a few hours ago, he delivered another absolute hip-hop masterclass called BLESSED NEW DAY.

Turning to the heavyweights for inspiration: J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, Hollow Profit crafts a track that doesn't just pay homage - it stands proudly alongside the greats. And that's the thing with Hollow Profit's work; it sounds like he's been honing his craft for decades, yet his hunger is still as fresh as ever.

"I am writing about my own struggles with pride and giving advice to my niece who is dealing with the same struggles I dealt with during childhood," says Hollow Profit, reflecting on the meaning behind BLESSED NEW DAY. "It's a message of hope, gratitude, and optimism".
