Cherry Seraph’s wormz Is a Multi-Layered Dive into Love’s Macabre Beauty

wormz is the deeply hypnotic and intricately pieced together new single from West Yorkshire-based artist and producer Sophie Russell, better known by her moniker of Cherry Seraph. A standout release for the musician, wormz marks a sonic departure from Cherry's previous work, as she delivers an innovative and multi-layered tune reminiscent of artists like FKA Twigs and Grimes.

Lyrically, Seraph turns to the likes of Phoebe Green and Marika Hackman for inspiration. A lover of exploring the darker and more grotesque side of things, Cherry says her latest track "is about love, but in a bit of a macabre way. But even the macabre nature is equally tender, and that is the nature of love. It's why we continue to do it after heartbreaks".

Recorded in the musician's own studio, wormz showcases an artist who's clearly at home as both the architect of her sonic world and the voice that breathes life into it. That's a deadly combination, and I'm looking forward to taking a deep dive into her discography.

If you're around Cobalt Studios in Newcastle, Cherry Seraph will be playing on the 27th of March. She'll also be performing at Stockton Calling Festival on the 19th of April. Don't miss your chance to see a truly gifted talent!
